EXPECTATIONS YOUR's and OUR's

Life within the ArmyBasic.org network

This site is available to provide support to those thinking about, interested in and committed to pursuing a commission from the US Air Force. Here you will find information and advice for every step to becoming an officerapplication, selection, attending OCS and/or Boot Camp and life in the Air Force as an officer

What should you expect?

  1. You should expect to be treated as you would treat others.
In other words, if you get nasty then you will be given a warning, failing to abide by that you WILL asked to leave.
  2. You should expect that you will be treated fairly, openly, and honestly.
If you share your life's story and desires to become an officer, then you can expect that others will read your words, evaluate them and then give you their experiences and opinions. These experiences and opinions should not be taken as the official US Army or DoD opinions or best practices, unless verified through official channels.
  3. You can likely expect open criticism, some constructiveothers less constructive.
This is a community of people and with people come personalities. As within any community there will be those that read what you write differently than what you may have meant it and their opinions are not going to always agree with yours. Use some common sense, common decency, and civility when you place anything within the network.
  4. There are certain questions about OCS and/or Boot Camp that cannot and will not be answered. Everyone who has attended OCS and/or Boot Camp (whether they completed or not) is bound not to divulge certain information; this is especially true of academics at OCS and/or Boot Camp. Any person found posting such information will be removed from this site and reported to the OCS and/or Boot Camp Commander.

Remember that becoming an officer is as much about the journey as it is about completing the class. If you expend as much effort on working within the rules as trying to get around the rules, you will have kept your integrity intact!

What is expected of You?

  1. We expect you to observe some courtesy and civil etiquette.
If you make personal attacks on other members, you will be given a warning. A second incident and you will be removed from the site. Attacks on administrators and moderators will not be tolerated!
  2. We expect you to voice your opinions.
Nearly everything can be said (and will remain visible) if it is said with class, dignity, and respect. You need not be vile to get your point across.
  3. We expect you to be respectful of others opinions.
Once again this is a community and it is rare when everyone agrees with everyone else. In fact, it is darn near incomprehensible to even expect that they will. You don't have to agree with everyone, you don't have to like everyonebut you don't have be rude either.

We expect you to keep the image of the US Air Force and the OCS Foundation in mind at all times.

The things we say here paint an image of the Air Force and the US Army officer corps to those on the outside. If it is not something you would say to your commander, supervisor or mother, it probably doesn't need to be said.

The OCS Foundation has been gracious enough to allow us to use their spacedo not ruin the support opportunity for others.

Who makes the determinations?

  1. Ultimately it is the administrators and moderators.
All of the administrators and moderators are either in the process of becoming commissioned or are already serving as commissioned officers. We are merely volunteers, who believe in the value of this site, the information it makes available and the support that is provided. We are responsible for watching, observing and correcting (when necessary) to ensure this site maintains a professional image.
  2. Why are things deleted and or locked?
Topics and posts can be (and will be) deleted if they are obscene, pornographic, or of a nature that is degrading to the US Army, the OCS and/or Boot Camp Commander or staff or the OCS Foundation staff in general, or in principle. It may also be deleted if the original topic creator has asked that it be removed. It may also be locked and moved to the archive if it has not been responded to within an a few months.

Topics can be and sometimes will be locked. This is generally done when things start moving toward being petty, disgusting, or totally negative but the administrators/moderators do not wish to remove or delete the topic since it likely started out well meaning.
  3. If I have an administrative problem, who do I contact?
You can contact the Site Admins or the webmaster.
